EnTranCE Summer 2023
Energy Case Consulting Competition

The Texas A&M Graduate Consulting Club (TAMUGC) and Texas A&M Energy Research Society (TAMU ERS) are coming together to organize EnTranCE. 

 

This event is motivated by the growing importance of optimal integrated use of technological know-how and business practices in today’s fast-paced world. This event aims to amalgamate the best of the business and engineering worlds in the energy sector.

Problem Structure

Participants will be presented with a problem statement that will test their technical and strategic skills.
This event addresses the challenge of uniting a group of students who can handle above two aspects of a problem in the best possible way.

Research

The participants will research their top potential solutions,

evaluate the critical parameters of their proposed plan, and

present solutions in accordance with the market and client requirements.

Analysis

The participants will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the solutions, utilizing both the data provided and the reliable sources of information available to them.
Then, the participants will put forth technologically and financially sound solutions.

Presentation

The participants will be presenting their proposition on Zoom to a panel of judges.
The judging panel will comprise representatives from consulting and technical firms like McKinsey.
Participants will have a chance to interact with the judges.

Guidelines

  • The registration due is May 17th, 2023. Students can register in teams of three (3) or four (4).
    Individually registering students would check out the team building sheet. A mix of technical and consulting backgrounds is preferred among team members, but not mandatory.

  • The case prompts will be released to participants on May 18th, 2023.

  • Teams will get 24 hours to send 3 clarifying questions - Deadline 11:59 PM, May 19th, 2023.

  • The participants would get two weeks to analyze the given information and eventually construct a framework.
    Also, The participants are expected to reach out to ERS or TAMUGC well before the final presentation date for any queries.

  • The participants are expected to submit their video and presentations by June 1st, 2023.

  • The selected teams will be notified of their acceptance for the semifinals by June 5th, 2023.

  • The participants would be presenting their proposition on Zoom to a panel of judges on June 10th, 2023, starting at 9 AM.

  • Participants are encouraged to make sure all the arrangements for the presentation are made and are in order.
    The number of slides are not limited, but it is strongly recommended to keep the presentation (video recording) time up to 15 minutes.

  • The presentation would be conducted in two rounds. Finalists selected from the first round will be presenting their solutions to the judges in the final round. Each team would be allotted 15 minutes for presentation and then 10 minutes for Q&A.

  • The top three teams from the final round will be awarded total prize totaling at least $2000.
